A study of the current state of the world stone industry and its ongoing or potential trends in terms of production, business and technology.
It is based both on statistics and on information gathered directly from sector operators working in various fields. The book also includes a bibliography of sector publications. This report has been organized to provide the reader with an organic view, following the same route taken by the types of work that characterize the stone industry as a whole. Its departure point is therefore an examination of raw materials production, this is followed by an analysis of the processing stage as carried out in individual countries. We then examine the business aspect, showing worldwide stone sales of different materials and finished products, both simple and special, giving a picture of the major importer and exporter countries. Finally, we take a look at stone consumption in individual countries and on the global level, estimating the amounts consumed by the major use destinations.
