The Report, 1st edition in 1990, has become an important communication device for the understanding of the dynamic reality of the industrial rapid growing, along with that of machines and capital goods, as well as that of services. A document of sure reliability, even more important in a sector characterized by strong structural difficulties of data acquisition, elaboration and interpretation. The target Countries of specific surveys are up to now eighty, thus to guarantee the completeness of information, enriched by the possibility to effect long term comparisons and receive strategic diagnosis of general utility. Moreover, the sources refer to Subjects of undisputed competence like Comtrade and Eurostat, even though there was the need of some corrective interventions which are opportunely illustrated in the critical Appendix.
